Small Modern Office Design Nets Big Results for Client

When interior designer, Michael Ingram got hired to transform his client’s small empty space into the modern office workplace the owners envisioned, congruent with a Key West lifestyle yet consistent with their upscale clientele, Michael began reaching out to find an office furniture company that could help him with his quest. That’s when Michael stumbled upon 90 Degree Office Concepts.

Michael had previously put together a floorplan that he felt would work best for his client’s needs, what he did not know at the time was the extent of design options that were available for him to create from. The project design team at 90 Degree explained to Michael the possibility of designing and building solid wood framed panel walls and outfitting them in any combination of hundreds of material permutations. When shown how custom office furniture could be modern, yet complement his client’s expectations and budget, he got excited. As the planned developed, it was decided upon to build semi-private offices and go with natural maple frames with barn door hardware supporting maple wood doors with ribbed glass. The basic ideas were roughed out through emails and phone conversations and rough drawing exchanges.

In a meeting in Key West with Michael, his clients, and 90 Degree Office Concepts project design personnel, the client was thrilled to look at hundreds of material samples right in their office. The convenience of having a designer present, not having to leave their office and having material options they never dreamed of and a project design coordinator to explain possibilities, made for a successful meeting.

After getting all the materials selected, 90 Degree Office artist personnel put together a full color rendering of the client’s furniture, in their space, so as to bring together their vision for final approval.

Within a six week period it took to bring this project to life, there were several change orders that took place, but did not stop production.

With the help of 90 Degree Office Concepts, Michael was able to take this small office space from humble beginnings to creating a modern office design, something that was just not possible using standard, off the shelf office furniture. In the end, the natural maple wood panel frames gave the space a light earthy feel reminiscent with Key West style. The addition of the ribbed glass on the sliding glass doors and front panels gave the space the sense of openness while preserving privacy. The acoustic panel tiles provided a soft solution to excessive noise transfer in an otherwise hard surface workplace. The brushed aluminum infused into the beltline of the panels added a slicker modern feel to the space. The end resulted in big rewards for the client and their customers.
